Why you should choose Congreso neighborhood
This area is mistakenly known as Congreso because it is the area that surrounds the Congreso de la Nación (Argentine National Congress building). It could be said that it is really between two neighborhoods: Montserrat, which includes the Plaza del Congreso (Congressional Square) and Balvanera, which contains the Congress building itself. The main attractions to see and visit are the Congreso Nacional and its square, El Molino cakes shop (currently abandoned but nevertheless notable for its Belle Époque style, making it great for taking photos), and Café Los Angelitos, on a key corner in tango history where a different show is presented every night.
The southern part of the area includes many establishments belonging to the Spanish community, and Belgrano Avenue is known for its furniture stores. The Middle Eastern community also has its shops and other establishments in the southernmost part of the Congreso neighborhood, near San Cristóbal.
What it's like living in Congreso
For those who love architecture, Congreso is the perfect neighborhood to live in because you can find a variety of domes that range from classic to modern. The best things about renting in Congreso are the elegant and stylish buildings, many of which have been recycled. During the week there are lots of people in the streets during working hours, but on the weekends it is a peaceful and safe area.
